Icebergs temporarily lodge in the shallows of Iceland's Jökulsárlón lagoon, a large, dynamic body of water located very close to the turbulent North Atlantic Ocean that is dramatically affected by the rise and fall of the tides. This subpolar lagoon's resulting powerful currents undermine the glacier's 150-meter-high (492-foot-high) terminus walls of ice, prompting a steady avalanche of calving icebergs much like an army of dominoes...
