Text on back of card:
Where Death has No Dominion: What are we to make of the teeming presence of all those chirping, growling, trumpeting creatures so woven into the design of Celtic art and Celtic thought? Not to mention the magical ones, that salmon of perfect knowledge, the golden hind, the wonderful talking mare. And what of the shapeshifting at every turn, the deer who becomes a prince, the children who become swans? In this parallel universe, which is never more than a whisper away, the boundaries between kingdoms, animal and human and magical, are slimmer. We are one family - two-leggeds, four-leggeds, the furry and the feathered - all together one single great endless spiral of life where death has no dominion.
One of the Celtic gifts to the West is this deep honoring of the living world around us, a way of embracing forest and thunderstorm, the leaping fish and the leaping stag. Now, as rainforests burn and icecaps melt, it is given and commanded to us to embrace the whole of natural creation.
May we embrace this unyielding old rough world so delicately, so deeply it becomes transparent! So that atoms tremble and a shimmer comes through, a light shimmering sourcing from neither sun nor star, nor any earthly flame, but sourcing from the very center of things, from the luminous knowing space wherein the whole world rests, where the see-er becomes the seen and death has no dominion.
