We have a very special announcement to make: starting with 2008 calendars, Amber Lotus Publishing will be printing the interiors of all our calendars on 100% recycled paper, with 100% post-consumer recycled content, and processed chlorine free!
The estimated environmental benefit of using this 100% PCW paper is that it will save:
- 2,386 trees
- 869,789 gallons of water
- 1,651 million BTU’s of energy (enough to run 18 homes for a year)
- 265,326 pounds of CO2 equivalent greenhouse gases
- 143,915 pounds of solid waste

We owe it to the future to take better care of the present. Environmental stewardship is a responsibility we take seriously. Amber Lotus is the first major calendar company to take this important step, one that we hope will become an industry standard in the near future. Our customers want to be environmentally responsible and we know they expect the same from us.
“This is an unparalleled demonstration of environmental leadership," said Erin Johnson, Manager at Green Press Initiative.” Amber Lotus was one of the first members of the Green Press Initiative, and organization dedicated to increasing the use of recycled paper in the publishing industry. We are also a member of the Co-op America Business Network and are certified as a “green business.”
Environmental Responsibility is not something new for Amber Lotus, and these new steps will not replace our previous efforts. In addition to printing the interiors of all our calendars on 100% PCW paper, we will continue to plant two trees for every one we consume (through contributions to American Forests). We will continue to support alternative energy sources by contributing to NativeEnergy, who has joined forces with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe to build wind turbines and more renewable energy. In 2006 this contribution offset a total of 250 tons of CO2.
