Text from back of card:

The goddess Ganga is the holy Ganges river. She incarnated as a river in which all humans could seek purification. So that her mighty powers would not flood the entire earth, Shiva is holding her captive in his mighty hairs. This way only a trickle comes down from the Himalayas to form a magnificent river. Ganga rides the crocodile Makara, who represents the treacherous power of water and of sexual energy. She shows a mala (rosary) for mental purification as well as a lotus, symbol of purity. She also holds a vessel with Amrita, the essence of life, also representing the semen of Shiva.
